Position Overview

Marine Apprentice Technician



Carter Machinery , Chesapeake, VA. This 15‑month full‑time apprenticeship provides hands‑on training in marine engine and propulsion system repair, culminating in full accreditation through the Department of Labor Apprenticeship program. Responsibilities

Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing marine engines and propulsion systems. Perform standard maintenance tasks and complete overhauls under supervision. Support field service trips, traveling to client locations as needed. Document work orders, parts lists and time cards accurately. Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a post‑secondary diesel engine or related program, or at least two years of mechanical job experience. Self‑starter with strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with limited supervision. Excellent customer service, communication, writing and driving record. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and service software; training on CAT electronic tools (SIS, ET, etc.) provided. Willingness to work all shifts, overtime, and to promote a positive customer experience. Physical Requirements

Must stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach and climb; lift or move up to 70 pounds; and possess adequate vision. Must be able to sit frequently and work shifts that may include manual tasks. Competitive Compensation and Benefits
