Marine Field Technician - Elkridge, Maryland
Sign‑on bonus up to $5,000
for experienced hires. Eligibility: 3+ years marine field experience for $5k bonus; 2-3 years for $2k bonus. Bonuses in 2 equal installments at 90 & 180 days.
Carter Machinery Company, authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Marine Field Technician responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and performing intermediate level mechanical and electrical repairs and complete overhauls on marine engines and propulsion systems. Minimum 2 years experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing DOC/DPF/SCR with marine engines and equipment control systems. Must perform sea trial and data logger; engine vision; military equipment experience a plus; high school diploma or GED required.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctions on marine engines and propulsion systems.
Perform intermediate mechanical and electrical repairs and overhauls.
Conduct sea trials, data logging, engine vision inspections.
Provide excellent customer service in a fast‑paced environment.
Maintain accurate service reports and work order details.
Qualifications
Strong mechanical background and troubleshooting skills.
Self‑starter, able to work with limited supervision.
Excellent customer satisfaction skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and service software.
Ability to work additional hours, travel and work out of town as needed.
Well organized and able to prioritize workload.
Excellent driving record.

Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds. Repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of equipment. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Compensation Starting compensation range: $31.92 - $47.19 per hour. Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location and other business needs.
