Public Area Attendant – Element New Orleans Downtown

This role is essential to creating a fresh, healthy, and welcoming environment at Element New Orleans Downtown.
Description The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sustainability, and wellness of all public areas in line with Element by Westin brand standards. Duties include daily inspections, cleaning, stocking supplies, and providing guest services.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain all public areas in alignment with Element by Westin brand standards, emphasizing cleanliness, sustainability, and wellness.
Complete daily Public Area Attendant checklists to ensure all spaces are consistently clean, organized, and guest ready.
Stock, organize, and maintain cleaning carts and caddies with approved supplies, linens, amenities, and equipment.
Clean and care for lobby spaces, stairwells, windows, furniture, lighting, fixtures, drapes, vents, and indoor plants to support a fresh, modern atmosphere.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and shampoo floors and carpets to maintain a healthy indoor environment.
Clean, sanitize, and restock public restrooms, fitness center, guest and service elevators, employee locker rooms, offices, and drinking fountains.
Remove trash and recycling in accordance with sustainability and environmental guidelines.
Maintain strong awareness of guest presence by greeting guests warmly, using names when known, pausing equipment use when guests are nearby, and ensuring unobstructed walkways.
Deliver intuitive guest service by proactively offering assistance, providing clear directions, and escorting guests when possible.
Maintain knowledge of hotel amenities, services, hours of operation, and in‑house events to confidently assist guests.
Promote hotel offerings and amenities in a natural, service‑driven manner.
Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, following property service recovery procedures.
Support a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture through professional communication and recognition of coworkers and leaders.
Contribute to a safe, healthy work environment for guests and associates by following safety and wellness guidelines.
Participate in daily pre‑shift meetings and remain engaged with team goals and priorities.
Consistently present a calm, friendly, and welcoming demeanor, embodying the Element brand promise.
Perform duties in accordance with company policies, brand standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Complete additional duties or special projects as assigned by leadership.
Requirements (Qualifications)
High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, and move 25‑30 pounds.
Ability to work standing or walking for the entire shift.
Work with little or no supervision while maintaining high levels of cleanliness and efficiency.
Strong attention to detail.
Available to work a varied schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
Ability to communicate with guests and team members.
