Position Summary At CHCCS, a teacher’s goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience he needs to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever‑changing world.
Essential Duties
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to student needs.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities.
Participate in curriculum development programs and faculty committees, sponsorship of student activities.
Instruct pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment.
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education / Experience Requirements
Holds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Prior teaching experience preferred.
Alternative qualifications as approved by the board.
Physical Requirements
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
