Position Highlights
The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) is seeking a part-time Facilitator to support faculty teaching the online course MIS 544 – Healthcare Analytics. The facilitator will assist instructors with tasks such as responding to student inquiries, grading assignments, holding virtual office hours, and monitoring discussion boards. Duties will vary based on course and instructor. The position is on‑call and assignments are not guaranteed for every session. Assignments last the duration of the online course (7‑15 weeks) and the role is limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week, typically averaging 10‑15 hours.
Facilitators will need their own computing equipment and reliable high‑speed internet. No special software is required beyond virtual conferencing tools and the D2L LMS. The MIS Department is one of six academic departments in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
Duties & Responsibilities
Timely review and grading of assignments, including providing feedback to students.
Monitoring student participation and managing violations.
Alerting the instructor to possible plagiarism or other academic integrity violations detected while grading.
Entering grades into the D2L course LMS.
Other Duties Assigned
Monitoring discussion boards and responding to student comments.
Responding to student inquiries via the UA LMS (D2L).
Holding scheduled virtual office hours.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Student‑centric attitude.
Reliable and self‑motivated.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in MIS or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in MIS, data analytics, or healthcare informatics.
Experience with Weka, Excel, and introductory machine‑learning concepts.
Experience teaching and/or facilitating college‑level courses.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Compensation
Hourly rate: $30.00 FLSA status: Non‑Exempt Part‑time (1‑19 hours per week) Job FTE: 0.025 Benefits eligible: No benefits Rate of pay represents the University's good faith estimate.
