Floor Technician
Summary The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of all floors within the nursing home. This includes performing routine floor care such as cleaning, buffing, waxing, and stripping floors. The Floor Tech plays a crucial role in ensuring a clean and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Floor Cleaning: Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in resident rooms, hallways, common areas, and staff areas. Ensure floors are kept clean and dry to prevent slip-and-fall accidents.
Floor Maintenance: Buff, strip, wax, and polish floors as per the facility's maintenance schedule. Ensure all floor surfaces maintain a polished and professional appearance.
Carpet Care: Vacuum, spot clean, shampoo, and perform deep cleaning on carpets and rugs as needed.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain floor care equipment, such as floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet extractors. Ensure all equipment is in good working order and report any issues or malfunctions.
Adhere to Safety Standards: Use cleaning chemicals and equipment following the facility's health and safety regulations. Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
Trash Removal: Assist with the collection and disposal of trash, ensuring that trash receptacles are clean and properly maintained.
Assist with Other Housekeeping Duties: Help housekeeping staff with general cleaning tasks, especially during high-traffic times or special events.
Maintain Supply Inventory: Monitor and maintain the inventory of floor care supplies. Request additional supplies when needed to ensure efficient operations.
Communication: Report any damage or safety concerns, such as broken tiles, loose carpets, or other floor-related hazards, to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Facilities Manager.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in floor care, housekeeping, or a similar role preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
Familiarity with floor care techniques, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently. Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow instructions.
Must be compassionate, respectful, and able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with residents.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Ability to lift, move, and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), stand and walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
Ability to read and interpret documents and data on a computer screen and communicate effectively with employees and other stakeholders.
