JOB SUMMARY
CLASS A CDL REQUIRED
The Truck Driver is a heavy equipment transport driver who will operate a truck and trailer. He/she may transport step decks, lowboys, flatbeds, and other trailers as required. The Truck Driver will be responsible for loading and unloading equipment onto the trailer and hauling safely from one location to another.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Inspect vehicle, equipment, and materials to ensure all is safe, in compliance, and secure.
Safely secures cargo for transport.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
Haul cargo safely from one location to another.
Perform daily preventative maintenance, record, and inspection on vehicles including but not limited to fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, checking and adding fluids as needed.
Communicate with truck supervisor and dispatcher on status, updates, and issues as required.
Complies with all driving rules, regulations, and laws.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Assist maintenance with repairs as needed.
Communicate and direct co-workers verbally either directly, through tracking device, or hand signals.
Exercise good judgment regarding work site access, unloading and operation to and from work site.
Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture.
Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Valid class A CDL driver’s license required
High School Diploma or GED required
Must pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug screening, and possess a clean MVR
At least 3 years’ experience operating a truck and heavy equipment
Must be able to work overtime, including weekends
Local and out of town stay may be required
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and dispatch
Adhere to strict safety standards and procedures
Knowledge of trucks and other heavy equipment
Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
Crane rigging experience preferred
Heavy haul experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to twist, climb, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch as required to perform essential functions for extended periods of time.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help.
Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, hot and cold weather.
