Systems Librarian
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Libraries, CSN seeks to hire a full‑time forward‑thinking, innovative, and collaborative Systems Librarian. The Systems Librarian oversees the implementation, support, and enhancement of various library technologies, including the department's discovery service platform (Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE).
Responsibilities
Oversee implementation, support, and enhancement of library technologies.
Develop, maintain, and administer the discovery service platform (Alma and Primo VE).
Conduct content management, reference services, instruction booking, and data analysis using web‑based tools such as Drupal, EZ Proxy, and Springshare.
Maintain and troubleshoot library technology, including the website, integrated library system, apps, and other IT initiatives.
Ensure regular system upgrades and evaluate, procure, and implement new technology services.
Design, implement, and maintain processes and procedures for barrier‑free delivery of physical and digital collections.
Collaborate with library colleagues to improve systems support and implement user‑experience best practices.
Serve as the library point‑person for the CSN Office of Technology Services, Marketing and Communications, Office of eLearning, and other essential campus entities.
Provide in‑person and virtual reference services, collection development, library team participation, professional development, assessment of library services, and evaluation of library faculty and staff.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Minimum two years’ experience administering and troubleshooting library software products in a library setting.
Record of evidence‑based, data‑driven decision making.
Ability to collect and report statistics for assessment of library resources.
Ability to work collaboratively both in‑person and virtually.
Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in reference interview techniques.
Knowledge of best practices for developing and maintaining collections.
Ability to perform independently and contribute to department, division, and college‑wide initiatives and projects.
Proficiency in report and statistical data preparation to assist with evidence‑based decision making.
Ability to actively participate in achieving organizational priorities and contribute positively to library‑wide planning and initiatives.
Ability to monitor developments in library discovery systems and related emerging technologies, standards, and peer implementations.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Library Science (MLS/MLIS).
Minimum two years’ experience coordinating library digital systems, including Alma/Primo, Drupal, EZ Proxy, Springshare, or equivalent discovery platforms and web/content management systems.
Professional experience troubleshooting technical issues with library digital systems.
Demonstrated experience evaluating and training on new or upgraded library technologies.
Related experience in an academic library.
Preferred Qualifications
Current Ex Libris Alma & Primo VE Administration Certification.
Experience in assessing, selecting, and maintaining collections aligned with institutional and user needs.
Cross‑cultural competence and pedagogical commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Team‑based project completion experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Interest in utilizing assessment to improve library services at an individual and programmatic level.
Experience with usability and interface accessibility for a diverse user population.
Documentation skill: written policies, detailed procedures, workflows, and related documentation.
Research, investigation, and evaluation of systems, hardware, software, and applications with informed recommendations.
Collaboration and communication across diverse colleague and stakeholder populations.

Salary & Benefits
Initial salary placement: $69,655 to $89,165 annually for a master’s degree, up to $106,999 with a doctorate and 10 years’ experience.
