MILLS COUNTY IOWA HEAD START ASSISTANT TEACHER
School Year Based position
Hastings, Iowa
Responsibilities
Assist teacher in planning classroom activities and volunteer recruitment
Conduct home visits, report on student progress, and support other program activities
Model positive communication, problem‑solving and overall attitude for children and parents
Qualifications
Ability to work with children and families from diverse cultural, economic and social backgrounds
BA/BS or AA/AS Degree in Early Childhood or Education preferred; high school/GED considered in lieu of college requirement
Current and valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and auto liability insurance required
Schedule & Benefits
40 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (August – May)
Work with 3‑5 year old children
Health, dental and life insurance, vacation/sick pay, paid holidays, IPERS and 403(B) retirement programs
