ASSISTANT TEACHER – Harlan, Iowa – Head Start
West Central Community Action Head Start Preschool seeks an Assistant Teacher to work in Harlan, Iowa.
Overview Assistant Teachers are responsible for interacting with children, providing a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities for children and participating actively in the teaching team through communication, collaboration, and curriculum planning.

Interact with children and provide developmentally appropriate materials and activities.
Participate actively in the teaching team through communication, collaboration and curriculum planning.
Qualifications
Ability to work with children and families from various cultural, economic & social backgrounds.
Current valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and ability to maintain current auto liability insurance.
Completed High School or GED.
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education / Education or Child Development Accreditation preferred.
Previous experience in Early Childhood Education strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits The starting pay for this position is $15.39 per hour. Salary or rate is based on education level. Benefits include vacation/sick pay, paid holidays, IPERS and 403(b) retirement programs. Health / Dental and life insurance are also available.
Position Details This is a 40-hour per week, 38-week per year position.
Classroom location: West Central Community Action Head Start, located at the Harlan Iowa Head Start Center.
