Hourly Wage: Starting at $71.11; Union Position
Regular Business Hours - 4 days/week and 10 hours/day: Monday – Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm
Job Duties:
This position performs a wide range of work including construction, maintenance and operation of our overhead and underground distribution system and operation of equipment. The position will work on energized or non-energized power lines, cables and equipment.
The essential functions of a Journeyman Lineman will include: Safely installing, maintaining and repair of cable, conduit, vaults, enclosures, and transformers. Performs switching, locating, hi-potting and testing, fault finding, exposing, splicing, and terminating of URD cables. Must know how to operate man-lifts, and other utility vehicles, power tools and hand tools associated with the electrical line trade. This position will perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Cleans, stocks, and loads vehicles; inspects vehicles and performs minor repair and maintenance or requests follow-up repair work. Tree/brush trimming and debris removal on or near energized or de-energized lines or equipment.
The individual assigned to this position will work in outdoor conditions sometimes under potentially adverse weather situations. Must have the ability to climb poles, including conducting pole-top, bucket and vault rescue if necessary. During system emergencies, individual is expected to work extended out-of-routine hours. Position requires lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing, pushing, and pulling. An employee in this position may be exposed to hazardous materials, substances or circumstances. This is a full-time union position with representation from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 483.
Experience Required:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Completed an apprenticeship performing all classes of overhead and underground transmission and distribution work
Ability to obtain an IBEW certification as a Journey Level Lineman
Current WA State Driver’s License with Class A Commercial Driver’s License certification and a good driving record
Journeyman Lineman placement is conditional upon successful completion of a company-paid physical, drug screen, and background check, which are processed after a job offer is extended and accepted.
Experience Preferred:
Current certification for telescopic boom trucks with both Swing Cab (TLL) and Fixed Cab (TSS)
Possess and maintain CPR certification, flagging, and first aid card
Strong safety culture
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, Washington State Electrical Workers’ Safety Rules (WAC 296-45), policies and procedures, as well as Company line construction and maintenance standards.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for this type of work.
Knowledge of practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the electrical trade (including overhead and underground systems). Knowledge of electrical theory and principles related to power transmission and distribution systems and ability to read and interpret system maps, work sketches and circuit diagrams.
Familiarity with OSHA 1910.269 standards
