Camp Pennyroyal, a 180-acre Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana overnight camp near Owensboro, KY, serves Girl Scouts in grades 4–12 with traditional activities like boating, archery, and ropes courses. Programs are led by paid staff and volunteers.
Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana seeks a full-time
Kitchen Manager
to lead day‑to‑day food service for youth and adults. Responsibilities include menu planning, preparing three meals daily, maintaining and cleaning an industrial kitchen, ensuring health and safety standards, overseeing staff, and supporting all members and guests.

Responsibilities
Oversee and participate in daily food service operations
Plan menus and order food and supplies with camp leadership
Coordinate special dietary needs with the Health Supervisor
Prepare balanced meals and maintain accurate inventory
Ensure sanitation, maintenance, and facility upkeep
Supervise Assistant Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Aide
Manage emergencies appropriately
Support camp activities and perform other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Non‑traditional and long work hours are expected; the Kitchen Manager typically does not work at night and has intermittent downtime between meals.
Sleeps in the Lodge or nearby with air conditioning, Wi‑Fi and restrooms; may sleep near other staff or campers.
Works in an air‑conditioned camp kitchen equipped with manual and mechanical food service equipment, a dish sanitizer, multiple sinks, fridges, countertops, a table workspace, and restrooms.
Frequently uses standard kitchen equipment, including freezers, refrigerators, ovens, stove‑tops, broilers, microwaves, blenders, mixers, slicers, food processors, commercial dishwashers, and knives.
REQUIREMENTS
Current certifications in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED, and ServSafe;
1 year each of childcare/youth program, supervisory, and administrative experience;
Age 21+;
Effectively manage financial and physical resources.
Strong communication and organizational skills;
Valid driver's license;
Must pass background checks, complete required forms, support Girl Scout mission, and promote diversity and safety.
