Summary: At Double JJ Resort, we are committed to providing a quality dining experience for all our guests. As a qualified cook, you will help prepare menu items under the guidance of our head chef. The cook will play a vital role in upholding our food safety and cleanliness standards. In addition, you will assist anyone on the team including the banquet chef, the banquet captain, and/or any manager with food preparation and cooking throughout the resort. Double JJ Resort is committed to creating memorable and delicious food experiences for our guests, and we recognize that having a talented staff is essential to achieving this goal.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to instructions.
Prepare, wash, chop, and plate meals on par with the head chef’s standards.
Communicate effectively with the rest of the kitchen team for seamless meal execution.
Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at workstation and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery.
Make sure that food is labeled, dated, rotated, wrapped, and taken care of properly.
Set up and clean station according to restaurant protocol.
Maintain a clean workstation area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves.
Ensure cleanliness by sweeping and mopping floors, taking out garbage, and helping with dishes as needed.
Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards.
Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the head chef.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
1 year of culinary experience preferred.
Serve Safe Food handler or Manager certificate preferred.
Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills.
Knowledge of food handling and safety.
Must be able to lift items up to 50lbs.
Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and diligence.
Ability to read and follow cooking instructions.
Must be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
Have effective communication with fellow staff members.
Must be organized and self-motivated.
Have a love and passion for food plus a good sense of taste and smell.
