Job Summary The Assistant Athletic Director for Major Gifts focuses on fundraising gifts of $25,000 or more for Georgia Southern Athletics. Working cooperatively with the Deputy Director of Athletics for Development and the Associate Athletic Director for Major Gifts, this role promotes teamwork among the Athletic Foundation, Department of Athletics, University Advancement, and the greater Georgia Southern community. The incumbent manages a portfolio of donors and solicits philanthropic gifts that support student‑athletes.
Responsibilities
Complete at least 200 personal visits annually
Identify new prospects and work toward closing gifts from those prospects
Travel 3‑4 weeks out of every month
Work collaboratively with the University Foundation
Build a portfolio of at least 100 major gift prospects
Perform 15‑20 major gift solicitations annually
Manage portfolio of donors and solicit annual fund, philanthropic, and capital campaign/project gifts to support Georgia Southern student‑athletes
Plan and execute stewardship events for major gift donors and prospects
Participate in athletic development events, including home football game activities, on and off‑campus donor events, and other athletic events that attract significant major gift donor presence
Manage collaborative teamwork and communication among the Athletic Foundation, Department of Athletics, University Advancement, and the greater Georgia Southern community
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
Three (3) or more years of applicable experience
Experience identifying, cultivating and soliciting annual fund and/or major gifts of $25,000 – $500,000
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree
Preferred Experience
Supervisory experience
Proposed Salary $70,000 per year (exempt position paid monthly).

Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
