Job Summary We are seeking a creative and compassionate Activities Assistant for our [REGION] region. The Activities Assistant responsible for assisting the Activity Coordinator in planning, organizing, evaluating, and providing recreational opportunities to meet the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of individuals served, utilizing a person-centered approach to assist the individuals in fulfilling their desires and needs for an independent life. This position will take the lead, run, and participate in in-home activities and external outings and events. This position will need to work closely with all departments and the corporate camp office for camp, special events and trips to accomplish individual activities and meet the needs of the individuals served. This position is part of the activity and program department and will be involved in other teams or committees that are involved in the care and programming of the individuals.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning, organizing, and leading recreational activities for individuals, including researching ideas, coordinating events, restocking supplies, and addressing individual needs.
Foster a positive environment for individuals to pursue their goals and dreams, promoting socialization and decision-making skills.
Aid in developing, posting, and distributing activity-related information, maintaining calendars, creating memos, and documenting events.
Support Activity Coordinator with activity documentation, programming, and reports, including running programs and maintaining records.
Attend and participate in relevant meetings and committees, facilitating trainings and in-services as needed.
Assist in securing and providing transportation for activities, ensuring vehicle safety and proper care for individuals.
Contribute to compliance, audits, and safety efforts, including emergency drills, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
Perform additional duties as required, such as special projects, fundraising events, and organizational tasks during emergencies or staff shortages.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar role is highly desired.
CPR and First Aide certifications required within 90 days of hire.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
Reliable and responsible with excellent time management skills.
Valid driver's license required along with an insurable driving record according to the Echoing Hills Village insurance carriers.
