After Care Teacher

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the school principal, responsible for the care and instruction of pre‑kindergarten through 7th grade children during the summer program, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that reflects Catholic values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission of the School by speaking, acting, and instructing consistently with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Abide by Catholic principles in professional and private life, demonstrating complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.
Show evidence of living Gospel values by active faith community participation, modeling Jesus’ teaching in attitude and example.
Assist in building the school’s faith community by participating in and planning religious and service activities.
Assist the classroom teacher with student supervision, lesson support, field trip planning, and related supervision.
Supervise parent helpers and ensure compliance with safe environment and school requirements.
Assist with school lunch program and playground supervision as needed.
Communicate effectively with students, helping to organize classroom learning, materials, and field trips to motivate learning.
Assist in evaluating student progress consistently and effectively.
Support a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self‑direction, positive self‑image, and motivation to learn.
Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment.
Demonstrate professional responsibility in all tasks, displaying sound judgment in dress and behavior.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal classroom environment. Requires walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.
Basic Qualifications
Strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church; must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; self‑starter, well organized, and team player.
Availability for evening and weekend work as necessary.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in computer technology, including word processing; maintain confidentiality at all times.
Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies, adapting appropriately in a school environment.
Successful completion of a criminal history and background check.
Professional bearing and clean, neat personal appearance.
Education and Experience
High School Graduate or GED.
Fifteen credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Human Services, OR three years’ work experience related to the care and instruction of children, or equivalent experience.
Other or Preferred Skills
Previous classroom experience.
