Base pay range $43,852.00/yr – $45,352.00/yr

Job Description Certified Catholic School Teacher, Exempt – Responsible for supporting the Diocese of Tucson’s mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment.

Job Classifications

Certified Teacher: Arizona Standard Professional Teaching Certificate, current and in good standing.

Certified Teacher – Pathway: Arizona Alternative Teacher Certificate, current and in good standing.

Department/Location Loretto Catholic School – Douglas, AZ

Primary Function Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher supports the Diocese of Tucson in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission of the School by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

Live Gospel values as an active member of a faith community and model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.

Help build the School’s faith community by participating in and helping plan religious and service activities.

Lead and participate in daily classroom prayer.

Demonstrate effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to meet academic goals and Catholic religious curriculum.

Teach with current knowledge of the academic and religious curriculum and communicate effectively with students.

Teach in an online learning environment as needed, using platforms such as Google Classroom.

Use effective evaluation methods related to curriculum objectives.

Maintain a consistent disciplinary approach promoting self‑direction and positive self‑image.

Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment.

Cooperate with school and Diocesan administration and all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents.

Enforce School policies and regulations professionally and consistently.

Maintain confidentiality of information and follow the School dress code standards.

Abide by rules and directives from the principal and perform other assigned duties.

Physical/Mental Requirements Coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual capabilities, and the ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.

Required Activities

Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.

Basic Qualifications

Working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Roman Catholic Church.

Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills.

Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; self‑starter, well‑organized, team player.

Availability for evening and weekend work as necessary; reliable transportation.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency in computer technology, including word processing and Excel; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Flexibility to assess needs and strategies and adapt appropriately in a ministerial environment.

Completion of a criminal history and background check.

Professional bearing and a clean, neat personal appearance.

Education and Experience

Completed bachelor’s degree or higher.

Certified by the State of Arizona as a Teacher with renewal per state law.

Level I of the Diocesan Ministry Certification with renewal every three years.
