Salary & Benefits In accordance with the Joel Barlow High School Support Staff collective bargaining agreement. Salary range: $25.41/hour to $28.21/hour.
Schedule 35 hours/week, 181 days per school year, Monday-Friday when school is in session and additional hours during the summer for the Extended School Year Program.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field OR Associate’s Degree related experience
Knowledge and experience in special education practices used in working with students with autism
Training and experience in Applied Behavior Analysis techniques is preferred
Basic knowledge of assistive technology and augmented communication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be highly motivated and self-directed
Relates well with students, staff and parents of students
Responsibilities
Assist in writing and directly implementing program for assigned student
Attend activities with assigned student, which may include related service sessions, community-based field trips, inclusive classroom opportunities and other portion of the school day
Attend extended school day and extended school year program with assigned student
Implement specific behavior support program through the school day
Collect and graph data on all specific student programs
Meet regularly with special education teacher and school psychologist to maintain effective program services for assigned student
Meet with outside consultants and adult service agencies to maintain effective transition plans for assigned student
Provide written reports of student progress as requested
Provide training to paraeducator staff in implementation of behavior routines and programs
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled
Assist with self-care skills, including feeding and toileting, as required by assigned student
