El Alba offers multi-cultural catering and shared commissary kitchen for food-based entrepreneurs, with a front-end a retail coffee kiosk that serves coffee and light breakfast bites.
Position Overview The Part-Time Barista supports daily kitchen and retail kiosk operations with a focus on food preparation, cooking, cleanliness, and front-of-house collaboration. The Part-Time Barista reports to the Executive Director and Incubator Program Manager.
Schedule & Compensation
$16/hour; part-time, typically 8:00am–12:00pm; based at El Alba retail space and commissary kitchen (NE Aurora, CO); schedule coordinated with Kitchen Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Opening Duties
– Early arrival; open café; set up signage and POS; prepare espresso machine, grinders, and brewing equipment; conduct inventory checks; ensure front-of-house is ready for service.
Customer Service
– Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages; take orders and process payments; greet customers and make recommendations; maintain a clean, organized barista station; restock and communicate supply needs.
Café & Light Kitchen Support
– Assist with light food handling such as pastry finishing, labeling, and stocking.
Closing
– Debrief the day with Kitchen Manager, power down barista equipment; clean machines, counters, and tools; sweep and mop front-of-house areas; assist with prep or setup for next service; secure the café at close.
Employment Status This is an at-will, part-time hourly position. El Alba Cooperative may adjust schedules or responsibilities based on operational needs.
