Offer Description A research assistant position is offered in the research line dedicated to migrations and public management of social welfare led by Professor Miryam C. González‑Rabanal, from the Department of Applied Economy and Public Management at UNED (National University for Distance Education). The role collaborates on research in the field of evaluation of programs and public policies of social content, and its application in projects aimed at Romanian immigrants in the Autonomous Community of Madrid (ACM).

Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Spanish and Romanian at an intermediate level would be an asset.

Objectives and Responsibilities

Analyze the socioeconomic characteristics of Romanian immigrants in the ACM, consulting the most current data available in the municipalities of the Corredor del Henares.

Carry out field work interviewing representative Romanian groups.

Identify key elements to elaborate social programs oriented to these citizens.

Design indicators to evaluate these programs.

Eligible Applicants and Qualifications Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Law, Sociology, or Economics, with experience in the study of migration and its problems. Proficiency in computer tools for data analysis, statistical knowledge, and experience in the evaluation of public policies and the design of social indicators are required.

Specific Requirements • Hold Spanish nationality or a residence and work permit in Spain.

The selected individual must demonstrate prior experience and specialized training on the evaluation of public policies and the design of social indicators, and training on the elaboration of evaluation questionnaires and focus groups concerning the welfare of Romanian settlers in Madrid.

Eligibility Criteria

Not currently employed by the institution offering the position at the time of publication.

Unemployed up to the day before the contract starts with the beneficiary entity.

Under 30 years old at the time of the contract with the beneficiary entity.

Possess knowledge in the specified subjects.

Hold the required degree at the time of the contract. Degrees obtained abroad must be validated by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

Selection Process The evaluation of applications will be carried out by a Committee composed of the Vice‑Rector for Research, Transfer, and Scientific Outreach or, if applicable, their delegate; the principal investigator of the project to which the hired candidate will be assigned or their delegate; and the Head of the Department of Research and International Relations or their delegate.

The Committee will select candidates according to the following criteria:

Candidate’s curriculum vitae (maximum 70 / 100): 1. Academic and research background in areas related to the project's scope (up to 30 %). 2. Experience in research on public policy evaluation and design of social indicators (up to 30 %). 3. Other merits (10 %).

Scientific and technical benefits of the candidate’s inclusion in the project (maximum 30 / 100): assessed based on potential impact on project management and implementation.

Additional comments: Individual interviews with candidates may be conducted if necessary.
