Membership Services Representative – Greater Portland Branch
Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the Membership Services Representative builds relationships with members and provides helpful, friendly, and professional customer service. They are responsible for ensuring the membership department conveys the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Southern Maine.
Schedule
Saturday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Responsibilities and Duties
Inclusion: Honors the YMCA of Southern Maine’s Promise Statement; models a commitment to equity and inclusion; creates a safe environment that helps all feel welcome and respected; promotes mutual respect, acceptance, and appreciation.
Relationship building: Develop positive, authentic relationships within the Y that lead to greater awareness of the Y’s mission and impact, growth in number of people served, and revenue. Greet all members and guests and provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person. Learn current and prospective member’s needs and interests through appropriate questioning and listening techniques; highlight how the Y can meet these needs and interests.
Personal growth: Maintain high emotional maturity and interpersonal skills, commit to personal growth and skill acquisition.
Operations & safety: Demonstrate clear knowledge of YMCA membership policies and procedures, accurately conveying and implementing with members. Be knowledgeable on all programs and membership events. Incorporate mission and core values in daily interactions with members.
Data tracking & documentation: Maintain accurate and consistent data tracking and documentation. Register members into programs, complete paperwork, receive monies, and input data into software. Manage monetary transactions accurately; accept payments, issue receipts, provide change, reconcile cash drawer at shift end. Process all membership transactions effectively and accurately.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully.
Exercise good judgment and provide excellent customer service.
Pay attention to detail.
Can work with frequent distractions and interruptions.
