Overview Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified IV Admixture Technician to join our team at the Humble, Texas location. This full‑time role operates Monday‑Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. with no weekends or major holidays. The position may be Level I, II, or Senior based on candidate experience.

What does the Pharmacy/Admixture Technician do? Under the direct supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist, the Technician performs technical medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control in a clinic admixture room or licensed pharmacy. Tasks are subject to verification by a registered nurse or pharmacist. The Technician supports the US Oncology Compliance Program and adheres to state regulations regarding compounding or mixing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Check all orders for completeness of information, patient data, physician authorization, and insurance approval.

Admix drugs as ordered, accurately and timely, following departmental and OSHA guidelines.

Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents; maintain indigent patient drug program as needed.

Count controlled drugs weekly, maintain records, keep current drug information and MSDS sheets, and dispose of materials properly.

Clean hood daily, log and date all drugs, check drugs monthly for outdates, keep accurate temperature and protocol logs.

Maintain proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers.

Complete inventory control, order supplies, receive and shelve medications, and ensure adequate drug supplies in all departments.

Prepare labels and file billing records.

Qualifications Level I

High school diploma or equivalent.

Entry‑level to 3 years experience in a pharmacy.

IV certification strongly preferred.

Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or state pharmacy board requirement recommended.

Level II

Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.

Level Senior

Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.

Oncology background preferred or extensive IV preparation experience.

Completion of an ASCP‑accredited program or community college–based program recommended.

Physical Demands Typical demands include full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and the ability to read and note measurements. Requires sitting or standing for extensive periods and occasionally lifting or carrying items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within normal range required.

Work Environment The position is performed in an office environment with regular exposure to direct contact with patients and potential contact with toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
