Job Title
Custodian (Full‑time, LADSE North)
Rate and Schedule $20.00/hour – $39,000.00 (prorated). Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Full‑time, with benefits.
Job Goal To maintain the LADSE facility in a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient condition.
Reports to Director of Business Services/Administration on‑site at the building.
Qualifications
Previous experience in custodial/maintenance areas desirable.
Ability to read and understand verbal and written directions and basic operating instructions.
Ability to perform physically strenuous jobs, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs and tree and bush trimming.
Demonstrated aptitude for successfully completing assigned tasks.
Alternative qualifications acceptable to the board.
Duties and Responsibilities
General: Adhere to the employee handbook and building policies.
Maintain building and premises, including outdoor grounds, garage, sidewalks, and parking lot. Tasks include dusting, washing, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, etc.
Perform yard‑keeping activities such as grass cutting and tree trimming to keep grounds safe and attractive.
Snow removal, including manual shoveling, plowing, and sanding/salting walks as appropriate.
Wash all windows on both inside and outside as needed.
Conduct ongoing general maintenance, upkeep, and repair: painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs as capable; report damage or major repair needs to the director.
Regulate heat, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems to maintain appropriate temperatures and economical usage.
Scrub and disinfect toilets and washroom areas daily; clean and sanitize fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
Keep all floors clean and in good condition.
Secure building nightly: lock doors and windows, turn off lights (except security lights), and close blinds.
Comply with local laws for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, landscape materials, and recyclables.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as directed by the director.
Run errands, pick up supplies, and deliver documents to partners and vendors.
Maintain LADSE vehicles, including tractors, lawn mowers, and snow removal equipment.
Keep an inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials; requisition replacements as needed.
Perform semi‑annual detail‑wide cleaning and maintenance of non‑routine tasks.
Daily: keep a postage machine operating; maintain order of supplies; record monthly postage use; replenish as required; deliver to the post office; arrange UPS or other delivery services when necessary.
Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities assigned by the business manager or designee.
