Assistant Football Coach

Responsibilities

Assist the head coach in developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate football program within the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference.

Instruct student‑athletes in fundamentals of sport technique and strategy.

Plan and execute practice and competition schedules, including evaluation of opponents.

Evaluate and recruit qualified student‑athletes whose athletic talent and academic abilities make them strong candidates for success at the University.

Perform administrative duties such as budget planning, scheduling competitions, and coordinating team travel.

Support the department’s guiding principles, values, and strategic plan, with an emphasis on equity and diversity.

Provide opportunities for student‑athletes to develop life and leadership skills.

Monitor academic progress to help athletes achieve full potential.

Maintain effective relationships within the athletics department, the University, community, booster clubs, alumni, high‑school coaches, media, and the general public.

Represent the University positively in private and public forums.

Adhere to all laws, policies, rules and regulations of the University, Athletics Department, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

College football coaching experience

Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Division I coaching experience

Pay Range $45,500.00 – $600,000.00, depending on education, qualifications and experience.
