The College of Business invites applications for an Instructional Media Technician to oversee the operation and maintenance of the College of Business classroom technology, audio/visual equipment, and web conferencing systems.
Responsibilities
The design and implementation of classroom AV technology into the building.
Provide AV assistance at COB events.
Evaluation and purchasing of new technology, and training for COB faculty, staff, and students.
Maintenance and training for the use of the podcast studio, video studio, and lightboard studio.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Understanding of classroom AV setups, cameras, microphones, mixers, displays, and control systems.
Working knowledge of Zoom, Teams, and related hardware and software integrations.
Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues in live, time-sensitive environments.
Ability to create clear instructions, diagrams, and user guides for varied audiences.
Skill in teaching non-technical users, providing guidance with clear explanations.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks across multiple events, classrooms, and technology needs.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners.
Openness to learning new technologies and adjusting to evolving classroom and event needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Zoom, Teams, and other video conferencing software proficiency.
Microsoft Office products proficiency.
Ability to learn new technologies and communicate effectively.
Ability to collaborate effectively with peers on the COB tech team and UM AV technicians from PTS/UMIT.
Experience in designing and deploying AV hardware systems in an educational or corporate environment.

Compensation Title: Elec Equip Tech I
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., 12 months per year
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
