Position Overview The College of Business (COB) invites applications for an Academic Advisor II to join their team.
This position will serve as a professional advisor for assigned advisees, with regular walk‑in availability for all undergraduate students in the College of Business.
Responsibilities
Close collaboration with the advising coordinator and directors of internships and career readiness in order to be well versed in curriculum requirements, career paths and internship opportunities for various business majors.
Core course registration of incoming first‑year students.
Assist with re‑recruitment/retention efforts.
Foster relationships with advisees leading to enriched undergraduate experiences.
Develop working knowledge of advising technologies to review student records, document appointments and track student progress.
Make effective referrals to campus services and resources.
Lead students in assessing options and making sound decisions to support their academic success.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with students, staff, faculty and administration.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and listening and feedback skills.
Knowledge in the use of computer software programs, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook and ability to learn related software applications.
Ability to listen and demonstrate patience and provide critical, accurate, consistent, and timely information.
Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and create and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work independently while providing attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
Ability to adapt to changing work demands.
Ability to gather, evaluate and report data.
Ability to manage occasionally stressful or difficult situations while maintaining composure.
Ability to evaluate various student transcripts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with academic advising.
Experience working in a higher education setting.

Compensation Title: Academic Advisor II
Union: FOCUS‑MFPE
Work Schedule: Full‑time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Screening of applications will begin after the closing date; however, applications will continue to be accepted until an adequate applicant pool has been established.
