St. Benedict at Auburndale, a Catholic, co-educational high school committed to academic excellence and the formation of young people in faith and virtue, seeks reliable and dedicated Substitute English Teacher to provide in-class instruction during teacher absence. Substitute teacher will play a vital role in maintaining a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports the mission of the school and the Catholic Diocese of Memphis.
Responsibilities
Deliver English/Language Arts instruction based on lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher. Manage classroom behavior effectively and maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment. Assist students with assignments, activities, and enrichment tasks as outlined in the lesson plan. Communicate with school administrators regarding attendance, student concerns, or deviations from planned instruction. Uphold Catholic values and support the spiritual environment of the school through respectful conduct and professionalism. Follow all school and diocesan policies, including safety protocols and Code of Conduct requirements. Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and other assigned locations as needed. Qualifications
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Teaching experience or prior work with adolescents is strongly preferred. Ability to effectively supervise and instruct students in grades 9–12. Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills. Willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education. Completion of all diocesan Safe Environment requirements prior to placement.
