Job Summary Under the direction of the Transportation Director, the School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school. Specific responsibilities for this position are as described in the attached job description.
Responsibilities
Begin as a substitute for regular drivers; complete a Driver Training program prior to beginning as a substitute driver.
Work Monday through Friday, split shifts, 4-6 hours/day; daily hours and routes may vary.
Adhere to all district safety policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and bus operations.
Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any issues.
Pay Rates
$20.00/hr during the Driver Training period
$32.57/hr for Substitute Bus Driver
$500 one‑time bonus upon successful completion of training and 60 work days of driving for the district
Qualifications
Valid Washington State driver's license.
At least five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.
Clean driving record (no suspended license, excessive speeding tickets, DUI, reckless driving, etc. within last 5 years).
Pass a criminal background/fingerprint check.
Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License – all necessary training will be provided by the School District.
Submit to random drug tests after hire.
Typical eligibility for SEBB benefits if anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 – August 31).
Selection Timeline This position will open and close periodically throughout the school year based on District needs.
