Custodian – Pawsperity
Join Pawsperity as a part‑time Custodian to support our mission of empowering families through job training and life skills. This role is essential for maintaining cleanliness, health, and safety across our organization’s facilities.
Compensation : $16.00‑$18.00 DOE (hourly).
Schedule : Monday‑Friday 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Location : Kansas City, MO.
Position Purpose
Pawsperity opened its doors in January 2016 as the country’s only nonprofit grooming school. Our mission is to empower families to become self‑reliant through job training, life skills, and practical solutions to end their cycle of poverty.
Support Pawsperity’s programs through promotion of cleanliness, health, and safety in the organization’s property, which includes cleaning carpets, hard surfaces, restrooms, furnishings, office supplies, and collecting and disposing of trash and other waste products.
Responsibilities
Vacuuming, spotting, shampooing, and extracting of carpet.
Mopping, sweeping, power scrubbing, stripping, polishing, and refinishing of hard surfaces.
Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms using established cleaning practices and procedures.
Cleaning and dusting windows, furnishings, walls, light fixtures, whiteboards, blackboards, and woodwork.
Moving supplies and furniture in order to clean around and under objects.
Assisting with the performance of routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, filters, removing drain clogs, etc.
Light grounds maintenance such as leaf removal and some weed removal.
Assisting with setting up for events & meetings as required.
Following established safety procedures and wearing proper protective equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Must be aged 18 years or older.
Three months to one year of housekeeping work experience.
Valid Kansas or Missouri driver’s license or the ability to obtain licensure prior to work start date.
Must be able to safely sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and ascend/descend stairs repeatedly during shift.
Ability to repeatedly lift and move 60 pounds.
Must be able to safely ascend and descend ladders up to 8 feet.
Ability to understand and follow instructions and dilution information from cleaning solutions and other supplies & equipment in English.
Must have basic knowledge of basic chemicals used in housekeeping procedures.
Ability to safely operate vacuums, floor machines, and extraction equipment.
May require some weekend or evening work.
Experience with use of personal computers.
