Assistant Supervisor Plants and Pumps
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District is hiring for the Assistant Supervisor of Plants and Pumps to support wastewater treatment plant and pump station operations. Salary Range
$67,800.00/yr – $104,800.00/yr Overview
Assist with the supervision of work crews in the operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plants and/or pump stations. Visit job sites to review maintenance and repair progress. Assist in investigating electrical and mechanical problems to determine necessary corrective repairs and preventive remedies. Periodically inspect plant/pump station buildings, machinery, roads and grounds for housekeeping and completed and necessary repairs. Monitor plant process adjustments. Prepare and maintain detailed records, reports and diagrams. Write work orders and develop job plans. Review completed work orders and request follow‑up work. Requisition material, parts, tools and supplies. Instruct and monitor employees in safety methods and procedures. Assist supervisor with assigned tasks. Mentor and facilitate training programs, updating materials with current methods, materials and technology. Generate data. Meet routinely with the general public, utility representatives and contractors. Coordinate and assign work to outside vendors and contractors. Perform supervisor duties as required. Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent. Completion of 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of machinery, equipment, materials and operating practices of a modern wastewater treatment plant and pump stations. Considerable knowledge of the chemical, physical and biological processes involved in wastewater treatment. Knowledge of safe working practices and ability to train and correct others. Knowledge of district policies and standards. Working knowledge of CMMS asset management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Oracle Fusion, UKG and related operation software. Ability to supervise work and deal effectively with the public. Ability to build teams and evaluate employee performance. Clarity in written and oral communication. Skill in maintaining detailed records and preparing reports. Ability to read facility plans and related drawings. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Special Requirement
Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state in which the employee resides. Position is safety‑sensitive; candidate must pass a non‑DOT drug test. Employees in this position are not subject to federal DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations. Physical Demands
