Food Sensory Lab
team as a Sensory Technician, where you will be the cornerstone of our product evaluation and research process. This entry-level role is perfect for a detail-oriented, service-focused individual eager to gain hands‑on experience in the fascinating intersection of food science and consumer perception. You will be responsible for the flawless execution of sensory studies, from meticulous sample preparation to precise data reporting, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our onsite lab environment. Your work will directly support the development of groundbreaking food and beverage products.
Responsibilities
Study Execution & Administration:
Administer daily sensory studies and internal training sessions according to established protocols, which includes setting up testing rooms, accurately labeling samples, preparing, and serving food and beverage samples.
Lab Maintenance & Safety:
Maintain a safe, clean, and highly organized work environment, including diligent documentation of samples, restocking of critical supplies, performing routine sanitation, and ensuring equipment is regularly cleaned and calibrated.
Data Processing & Reporting:
Execute the analysis and reporting of results for small-scale, routine sensory studies, including setting up and utilizing sensory software and Microsoft Excel for automated data collection and clear output generation.
Team Collaboration:
Interact effectively with the Sensory Team to plan resource allocation and manage study logistics, promptly communicating any issues or roadblocks for quick resolution.
General Support:
Proactively support overall sensory team goals, special projects, and activities as needed to ensure the department's continued success.
Required Qualifications
Technology Proficiency:
Demonstrated proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic foundational math skills, including the ability to accurately work with percentages, conversions, and ratios.
Strong service and detail orientation with a commitment to high-quality execution.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate proactive initiative.
Flexible, curious, and eager to learn new procedures and techniques.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Specific Lab Requirements
Must be a non-smoker (critical for maintaining a neutral sensory environment).
Willingness to work around and handle potential food allergens, primarily dairy, soy, tree nuts, and gluten.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior hands‑on experience in a scientific laboratory setting.
Professional experience in food or coffee preparation/handling.
