Job Summary Zachry Construction is seeking a GPS Motor Grader Operator for our heavy civil project. The job will start mid-January, and it is required to complete an OSHA 10 certification before your start date. Zachry Construction will coordinate and pay for you to get this certification if you do not already have one. Hires will be required to work six days a week and wear a long sleeve shirt and steel toe boots while working on this project. Only local candidates will be considered.
Essential Functions
Three plus years of industry-related experience is required for this position, emphasizing roads, highways, and bridges
Conduct Pre-start Visual Walk-around inspection
Utilize automatic grade control system/GPS, where applicable
Notify the supervisor if equipment needs service/repair
Monitor all engine gauges
Operate Motor Grader, utilizing hand and foot controls
Scrap, shape, blade, and level for various grades
Operate to fine-grade specifications, including shoulders and slopes
Read, interpret, and execute plan requirements and grade standards
Understand production and quantity requirements
Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts
Required Skills & Experience
OSHA 10 certification is required before a start date; coordinated and paid for by Zachry Construction
You are required to wear a long sleeve shirt and steel toe boots while working
You must be able to work 6 days a week
Motor Grader Operator must be able to sit for extended periods and periodically climb up/down equipment, utilizing built-in access (typically 3 vertical steps or rungs) with hand bar support.
Frequently work with hands to operate controls.
Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
Periodically walk over ground terrain, in varying weather conditions.
Only local candidates will be considered.
