General Summary & Scope The Stylist engages with guests, consults on their hair care needs, recommends products and services, and delivers quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. The Stylist supports the Experience Manager (EM) and the Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance (service sales, productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance
Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing where applicable.
Meet or exceed the weekly sales goal of $800 and productivity targets for hair services, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals set by Ulta Beauty.
Demonstrate business acumen by understanding drivers and identifying growth opportunities.
Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services and be knowledgeable of ingredients and benefits.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
People
Build guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
Demonstrate high standards of customer service and salon image standards.
Serve all guests, including walk‑in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.
Partner with skin therapists and the retail team for a well‑rounded guest experience.
Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster exceptional guest service.
Share benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
Process
Know and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services.
Follow established service protocols for a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
Use booking and clientele systems to book guests for return services and events.
Communicate supply needs to the EM, ensuring guest readiness at all times.
Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including cleanliness of salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and any additional assigned area.
Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
Protect company assets through loss prevention best practices.
Execute other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications Education
Cosmetology license.
Experience
Previous relevant salon experience is preferred.
Skills
Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, hair color, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
Proficiency in using equipment and chemicals needed for technical work.
Proficiency in recommending and selling pro hair care and makeup products.
Developed communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
Special Position Requirements
Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
Frequent mobility during shift.
Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs during shift.
Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching during shift.
Ability to stand for long periods during shift.
Continuous and/or frequent coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.

The pay range for this position is the higher of $15.92 – $19.00 / Hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
