Overview We’re looking for a Laborer II Telecom Underground to join our team and help connect America. The Laborer will complete general labor duties related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor. Duties may include all phases of underground construction—including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment.

What You'll Do
You will dig using hand shovel and mechanical tools
You will install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling
You will climb in and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
You will operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
You will work in congested or remote areas
You will maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
You will perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
You will maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies.
Performing more complex tasks with some independence, including equipment operation, record‑keeping, and following clearly defined processes and procedures.
Resolve routine issues while escalating more complex problems.
Perform work in all weather conditions
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
Must have a valid standard Driver's License or Class A Commercial Driver's License
Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
May be required to work over‑time; after hours; on weekends or be on‑call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
May include working nights and holidays as needed.
Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
Additional Qualifications
Proficient in basic operational tasks, data entry, record maintenance, and working under established procedures
Must have basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
Must have basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
Must have the ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
Must be able to work over‑time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on‑call
Must be able to maintain a safe work environment
Must be able to work in all weather conditions
Education & Experience Requirements
1 year of work‑related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications or laborer related work
Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high quality results
Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations involving employees, customers and vendors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area). Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
Language Skills
Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers, vendors and the public.
Pay Range The Laborer Telecom Underground II hourly wage range is $18.75–$23.55 depending on experience.
