Position Title
Instructor, Computer Science
Location & Type Full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track position. Classes are taught on the LLCC main campus in Springfield, IL and at outreach centers in Jacksonville, IL; Taylorville, IL; and Litchfield, IL. Remote work is not available.
Job Summary The Lincoln Land Community College seeks an instructor to teach a variety of Core computer‑science courses, including cybersecurity and ethics, networking and server administration, help desk, programming (Java, .NET), and database development. The role involves preparing syllabi, delivering approximately 15 contact hours per semester, maintaining accurate student records, providing timely feedback, holding office hours, and participating in departmental activities such as program review and curriculum development.
Responsibilities
Deliver instruction and maintain curriculum.
Prepare lessons and course syllabi that reflect the content and evaluation procedures.
Create a learning environment that fosters student success.
Develop, integrate, evaluate, and assess student learning outcomes to support accreditation.
Participate in the preparation and review of curricula and instructional methods.
Consult with advisory committees on program or curriculum matters.
Maintain accurate records of student performance per the course syllabus.
Provide constructive, timely feedback to students.
Maintain office hours in accordance with collective bargaining agreement.
Comply with registration and records procedures.
Engage in professional development to remain current in the discipline.
Attend monthly department meetings and participate in institutional operations.
Contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
Perform program assessment activities and submit data as required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field.
Prior teaching experience at the college level.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Advanced computer skills appropriate to the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher with a specialization in cybersecurity.
Experience teaching at a community college.
Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes.
Formal or informal training in higher‑education pedagogy.
Experience teaching students from a wide age and cultural spectrum, including dual‑credit high‑school students.
Compensation Salary ranges by education level:
Master’s: $51,901 – $76,788
Master’s +15 credits: $54,499 – $80,627
Master’s +30 credits: $57,224 – $84,660
Master’s +45 credits: $60,084 – $88,893
Doctorate: $63,085 – $93,337
