Full‑time, tenure‑track, 9‑month instructor position (Fall 2026 semester) at Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) in Springfield, IL, with teaching at the main campus and outreach centers in Jacksonville, Taylorville, and Litchfield.
Remote work is not available.
Hours: 15 contact hours per semester; work schedule varies, with potential evening and weekend hours and summer teaching assignments.
Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check.
Job Description Summary Shape the future of technology by teaching Computer Science courses to the innovators of tomorrow. Subjects include cybersecurity and ethics, networking and server administration, help desk, programming (e.g., Java, .NET Framework), and database development. Duties encompass preparing lessons and syllabi, evaluating learners, maintaining accurate records, providing timely feedback, honoring office hours, and contributing to curriculum development, accreditation processes, and departmental operations. Faculty welcome in‑class, online, hybrid, and remote instruction modalities.
Responsibilities
Deliver instruction and maintain curriculum; teach assigned classes, labs, and internships.
Prepare accurate course syllabi and lesson plans that reflect course content and evaluation procedures.
Create a learning environment that fosters student success.
Develop, integrate, evaluate, and assess student learning outcomes to support accreditation.
Develop and review curricula and instructional methods; articulate courses as necessary.
Consult with advisory committees, if appropriate for program/curriculum.
Evaluate and assist students; keep accurate performance records following evaluation procedures; provide timely, constructive feedback.
Maintain office hours in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Comply with registration and records procedures.
Participate in professional development activities and remain current in the discipline.
Attend monthly department meetings; contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
Participate in program review and complete academic assessment activities, including biannual assessment of at least one course assignment or activity.
Compile and submit assessment data; document changes based on data in meetings.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field.
Prior teaching experience at the college level.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Advanced computer skills appropriate to the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher with a specialization in cybersecurity.
Experience teaching computer science at a community college.
Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes.
Formal or informal training in higher‑education pedagogy.
Experience teaching a diverse student body, including high school students in dual‑credit programs.
Salary Overview
Masters: $51,901 – $76,788
Masters +15 additional graduate credit hours: $54,499 – $80,627
Masters +30 additional graduate credit hours: $57,224 – $84,660
Masters +45 additional graduate credit hours: $60,084 – $88,893
Doctorate: $63,085 – $93,337
Additional compensation can be earned through extra teaching assignments and coordinator assignments.
Physical Requirements & Salary Position Salary: Starting salary is determined by education level and experience and will be between $51,901 – $93,337.
