Personal Trainer – Houston Texans YMCA at YMCA of Greater Houston
Join the YMCA of Greater Houston to support the Houston Texans YMCA community as a Personal Trainer. This role assists members in designing, training, and maintaining a personalized exercise program while ensuring all policies are followed and members are monitored throughout the Fitness Center.
Essential Responsibilities
Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values into all activities.
Plans and develops individual fitness programs.
Demonstrates proper operation and correct use of fitness equipment; assists with exercise techniques, and helps develop member knowledge of physiology and exercise.
Maintains regular contact with members to discuss effectiveness and progression of their fitness program.
Monitors the fitness floor/room to ensure safe use of all equipment; responds to and reports accidents and incidents.
Monitors the condition of the exercise equipment, including reporting any necessary repairs.
Keeps the weight room neat and orderly, including cleaning the fitness equipment.
Keeps accurate and confidential member records including health and wellness assessments, personal information, fitness routines and training schedules.
Participates with fitness staff to develop quality programs to meet members' needs.
Responds to members' concerns.
Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance, such as Kronos Workforce Ready for approval of timesheets.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

Qualifications
Minimum age of 21.
High school diploma or equivalent.
National Personal Training certification.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
Previous experience working as a Personal Trainer (preferred).

Provide outstanding customer service.
Deliver excellent results.
Previous experience with diverse populations.
Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to write simple correspondence; and to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and to resolve routine problems.
Physical Demands Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; may lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment The work environment is normally moderate in noise level; vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
