Assistant Store Manager (Store 6506)

In this role you will work with minimal supervision, supporting the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and fostering a sales culture that promotes individualized solutions for every guest.
Responsibilities
Provide best‑in‑class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to questions or concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist with gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/returns using the POS computer system, including correct changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and ensuring top‑notch service.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly, courteously, and professionally; when appropriate, escalate issues to the Store Manager timely.
Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits, such as the new title reservation program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
Assist the Store Manager in setting guest service expectations for associates, training associates in all job responsibilities, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and help address unsatisfactory performance.
Provide timely recognition and feedback to all store associates and thoroughly document performance in Workday/HR systems.
Ensure all associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance training before the first shift on their own.
Work with the Store Manager to schedule associates, ensuring guideline adherence; super‑vise staffing levels to achieve optimum guest service.
Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify that associates are paid for all work performed.
Ensure all store areas, including restrooms, are clean, organized, merchandised, and that fixtures and equipment are in working order.
Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
Protect company assets with effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
Support the team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals correctly and accurately in the POS system.
Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate issues to the Store Manager or District Manager.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly.
Assist in maintaining store records/files in a neat, organized manner.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Consistently adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Minimum age 18 years.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
