Position Summary
To perform all kinds of welding and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment.
Responsibilities
Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals. Repairs equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum one year of MIG welding experience.
Tig welding experience preferred.
High attention to detail and ability to perform high precision work.
Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing maintenance work.
Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working in overhead structures and on scaffolds. Considerable glare emits from work, requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment. Exposed to moderate burns and exposed to flying objects, such as chips and scale.
Accident hazard can involve severe cuts and bruises. Job site must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips.
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, color determination, near acuity, speaking, listening.
Work Environment
This work position is required to work in a manufacturing environment facility.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
