Company Overview Sulzer Turbo Services (STS) is an independent provider of services and repairs of critical turbomachinery. We specialize in the repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts for high‑speed rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, compressors, expanders, and other industrial rotating equipment found primarily in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Fertilizer and Power Generation markets.

Location: La Porte, TX

Shift Work hours are subject to change and will be determined by workload and shift coverage needs.

Day Shift: Typically starts 5:00 AM or 7 AM and ends 3:30 PM.

Night Shift: Typically starts 3:30 PM and ends 12 AM or 2 AM.

Position Summary A Machinist is a professional that uses different techniques to create and very precise metal parts. A machinist should be able to operate and maintain industrial machines, produce precision tools, interpret technical drawings and instructions, and ensure safety and quality standards. A machinist also needs to have manual dexterity, an eye for detail, knowledge of mathematics and mechanics, and respect for safety precautions.

Responsibilities

Work closely and clearly communicate with other departments, machine personnel, supervisor, and lead man.

Capable of setting up and operating all machines in the shop (including large mills, lathes, tool post grinders, and other equipment).

Operate manual and automatic feeds to 0.0002” as required for final cuts.

Complete assigned jobs start to finish with little or no supervision, including reading blueprints, drawings, and sketches that may require intermediate math and problem‑solving skills to calculate unspecified dimensions.

Have and maintain ability to use and operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders, and forklifts.

Maintain LEAN objectives within the department.

Qualifications

Experience as a Manual Machinist.

Experience with both CNC and manual machining.

Field machinist.
