Title:
Controls Technician
Required Shift:
12 Hour Night Shift, 2-2-3 Rotating Shift (Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday; Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday; Hours: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am)
Job Purpose:
The Controls Technician is the PCIS systems owner for the production areas and responsible for eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses. The PCIS Technician repairs and maintains all site equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Must have 12+ months in a related technical role.
Must have line manager approval to apply.
Must be in good standing in current role.
2‑year Technical Degree/Certificate in Electrical/Electronic/Controls/Automation or equivalent experience.
1+ year of instrumentation & electrical, electronics, and factory controls & IT experience, including production system troubleshooting and problem resolution.
1+ year of experience in a controls function, working in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting/carrying/pushing (10‑50 lbs) and pulling (50‑300 lbs).
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling and gripping.
Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and work in confined spaces.
Ability to stand/work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours per shift).
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Preferred Qualifications
2‑year Technical Degree (Electrical/Electronic/Controls/Automation).
2+ years of instrumentation & electrical, electronics, or factory controls & IT experience, including production system troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Server, virtual infrastructure, and database administration knowledge.
Operational Electrical Qualification Certificate (must be able to work independently on live electrical panels).
Key Responsibilities
Excellent communication skills.
Analyze and test applications for factory control systems.
Knowledge of Rockwell 5000 and Siemens Step 7 control system environments (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Factory Talk, Step 7).
Support user departments in the use of HMI terminals and control system software applications.
Understand industrial networks (Ethernet, Profibus, ProfiNet).
Troubleshoot programs on Siemens and/or Rockwell Automation PLC control systems.
Install, program, and troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, and sensors.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills for complex industrial manufacturing equipment.
Field service experience preferred.
Operate within a team of four to troubleshoot and repair all electrical machine stops across the factory.
