Reporting to the Production Supervisor, Metal, the Metal Fabricator II is a strong team player who enjoys working in a creative, problem‑solving, and fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is a full‑time, hourly position scheduled Monday‑Friday with availability for overtime when necessary.

Essential Responsibilities / Functions

Fabricates, assembles, and finishes custom metal projects by using knowledge of metal fabrication processes (cutting, welding, gluing, shearing, bending, etc.)

Can competently sand metal and use Bondo when necessary

Has good knowledge in reading, interpreting, and scaling blueprints with little guidance

Completes quality control checks during the build process to ensure DI standards are met

Is competent in all welding positions (flat, vertical, overhead)

Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures necessary parts prior to assembly using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.

Follows company safety policies and processes

Is open to receiving guidance and capable of initiating tasks with little supervision

Adheres to established work hours and takes responsibility for managing time effectively

Willingly coaches and mentors Metal Fabricator I team members to help them continue to build their skill set

Raises challenges or issues on projects proactively

Shares best practices and project build knowledge with other team members

When needed, fulfills additional production duties assigned based on skill set

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrates strong technical skills in MIG welding

Has knowledge of TIG welding

Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and high‑performing work ethic

Has good knowledge of materials and their functions

Communicates professionally and respectfully with co‑workers in both verbal and written form

Knowledge of basic geometry, fractions, and decimals—both standard and metric

Consistently holds self accountable and has excellent knowledge of general production processes

Exhibits a positive, professional attitude and approachable communication/leadership style

Keen eye for quality control and quality assurance

Education / Certifications / Experience

Welding degree from a technical school is strongly preferred

2–4 years of experience as a metal fabricator required

Prior experience working in a custom metal fabrication environment or sign fabrication is strongly preferred

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl

The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Employee must be able to talk and hear

Work Environment Due to our onsite fabrication process, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, an employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.

This is an hourly (non‑exempt) position.
