We are seeking a CNC Machinist II who can keep up with our fast-paced environment in a climate-controlled shop. In this role, you will set up CNC lathes according to blueprint specifications, selecting the appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials. After manufacturing a product using the CNC machines, you will check with precision measuring tools to ensure it follows all specifications, making any adjustments as necessary.
As a CNC Machinist II, you will perform daily machine maintenance tasks such as fluid refill, chip removal, and tooling checks, operate band-saw, forklift, and various power tools for material prep, write simple programs by hand or with CAM for drilling and tapping programs, and assist with various shop tasks including assembly, cleaning, maintenance, and refurbishment while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
Responsible for selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills and lathes
Read dimensions and tooling instructions from work orders and drawings/blueprints
Ensure product conformance using inspection equipment, gauges, and quality control procedures, making any adjustments as necessary
Perform daily machine maintenance tasks such as fluid refill, chip removal, and check tooling
Operate band-saw, forklift, and various power tools for material prep
Write simple programs by hand or with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) such as drilling and tapping programs
Assist with various shop tasks including assembly, cleaning, maintenance, and refurbishment
Maintain a safe working environment while ensuring that all tasks are conducted with a safety-first attitude
Qualifications
Machining certificate and/or 4+ years of experience as CNC machinist required
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Basic knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines
Must have a basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Understanding of G-code part programs and code relationship to part drawings
Knowledge of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Basic computer skills
Possess strong skills in the following: verbal, listening, written, and non-verbal communication
Must be adaptable to changing environments, competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
This position requires a team-oriented individual who can collaborate with other machinists, assemblers, engineers, and logistics personnel to meet production requirements
Interest in developing a professional career in machining and manufacturing
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of material properties, cutting tool selection, and cutting parameters
Skilled in computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
Skilled in computer-aided drafting (CAD)
Experience with Fusion 360 strongly preferred
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift
Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance
Work for up to 10 hours in elements such as hot/cold warehouse/shop environment
Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage
Exposure to noise and warehouse elements
Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety-toed shoes, safety apparel, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for tasks
Schedule
Monday - Friday: 8 am - 5 pm Occasionally, the schedule can change as dictated by workflow and customer requirements
