Global Accountabilities For The Role

Safety – Ensure personal safety and report any safety concerns.

Quality – Maintain the quality of work, complete all accountabilities professionally and accurately, and provide timely input to the direct manager.

Productivity – Deliver assignments on schedule and meet productivity targets.

Costs – Help optimize cost utilization and efficiency, minimize scrap losses, and operate and program machines properly.

Specific Accountabilities For The Role

Tooling – Under the direction of the Tooling Engineer/Shop Supervisor, develop expertise in manufacturing tools for pilger machines.

Physical – Able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, reach, and demonstrate manual dexterity.

Production – Produce mandrels safely, meet quality requirements, and achieve cost efficiency; maintain and update production records for tools; understand procedures; sharpen drills, straighten mandrels, operate job‑specific machines including horizontal handsaw, manual lathe, CNC lathes, 3‑axis CNC vertical mill, CNC cylindrical grinder, manual cylindrical grinder, CNC thread grinding, mandrel gaging machine, automated polishing machine, polishing machine with hand tool; use CAD/CAM software and select and set up tools, fixtures, and machine settings.

Maintenance – Perform basic maintenance on equipment to keep them in good working order, including periodic cleaning, lubrication, sharpening, and adjustments; keep the work area clean and orderly; keep the tools and shop organized.

Quality/EH&S – Support the function and interactions of management systems subscribed to by the facility (AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BSI 19001); understand and follow Haynes' policies and procedures; utilize Lean/SPC monitoring techniques and controls to assure processes are centered and reliable by removing causes of defects and variability.

Role Qualifications Education

Required:

High school or GED.

Required:

2 years post‑high school training in CAD or machining or 3 years experience operating CNC lathes and cylindrical grinders.

Preferred:

CNC operations HAAS, tool steel, heat treating of tool steel, Machine Tool Technology, CAD/CAM, Industrial Workplace safety.

Experience

Required:

Must be self‑motivated to produce precision machined components.

Preferred:

Reading engineering drawings, CNC lathe and cylindrical grinding, metal working, CAD/CAM programming, hand tool use, shop safety.

Areas of Knowledge

Required:

Hand tools, power tools, precision measuring tools, competence using computers.

Preferred:

Math (shop math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry), CNC, cylindrical grinding, lathe turning, measuring, reading engineering drawings, selecting and setting tools, planning and sequencing operations; use of BobCad software.

Skills

Required:

Personal organization and time management, measuring, mechanical inclination, driven to learn new skills, attention to detail and problem solving.

Preferred:

CNC setup and operation, precision measuring, sharpening drills, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), reading engineering drawings, understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, understanding surface finish.
