Position Overview The

Automotive Technician

ensures that repairs are performed correctly and efficiently by qualified technicians and that the service department maintains a consistently high level of customer satisfaction. They are also responsible for effectively and efficiently diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles while adhering to the MAP guidelines and in accordance with dealership, manufacturers, and Sun Auto Tire & Service standards.

Compensation COMPENSATION: $20-$50 flag rate depending on experience

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnose vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.

Perform complex and heavy-duty repairs.

Perform work as outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy.

Explain technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include the Store Manager, Service Consultants and/or customers.

Recommend services that are necessary to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; properly document all recommendations in customer file.

Follow all safety procedures and report any concerns to the Shop Foreman or Store Manager.

Maintain appropriate ASE certifications and renewals of expiring certifications.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must be at least 18 years old

Prefer unexpired ASE or equivalent experience or training

Possess a current and valid driver's license

Ability to work Monday - Saturday

Working Conditions and Physical Demands The

Automotive Technician

will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold depending on the ambient temperatures outside. The use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required when working in these conditions.

The

Automotive Technician

must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and be able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building.

Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day; must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or finger objects frequently.

Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 70 pounds frequently.

Communicate with customers and shop personnel.

Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus.
