About the Role:
Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN is seeking a Weekend Machinist to join its team. This role is responsible for taking the raw stock and machine it to the desired dimensions for assembly into the various products made at Hitachi Energy Alamo Facility.
Responsibilities:
Proficient in CNC, lathes, machine centers, quality, safety, blueprint interpretation from engineering as required
Successfully complete in-house machinist exercise on all machining equipment in the section.
Work from Work Center Dispatch and print feeders for work orders.
Purchase aluminum stock, brass, bronze and cast‑iron materials, raw steel, copper stock, and cleaning agents
Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations
May provide information to drafting, engineering, and the supervisor
Normal supervision on routine assignments. Receives technical information from engineering as required
Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments, such as micrometers or vernier caliper
Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines
Must meet the requirements of a Code 9 machinist and acceptably meet the requirements of the proficiency machinist standards in productivity
Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products
Requirements:
Associate's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or relevant industry or graduate from a trade school covering standard and computer‑controlled metal working equipment or demonstrated knowledge
One year of machining experience preferred
Manufacturing experience preferred
