Salary: Commensurate with experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled carpentry and masonry tasks to repair and/or improve equipment and buildings/facilities
Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects
Repair/assemble/install cabinets, desks, tables and other office furniture
Repair doors, signs, window components/screens and similar items
Operate woodworking machinery
Build custom case work, signs, picture frames, and bulletin boards
Make counters, cabinets, and table tops with Formica
Replace floor and ceiling tiles, frame and finish walls, and construct shelves
Make concrete repairs and performs construction of new sidewalks, stoops or ramps
Make/repair brick and CMU walls/doorways/window openings to a finished grade
Lay porcelain and ceramic tiles
Respond to after hour service calls, emergencies, and holidays
Provide a safe and healthy learning environment in compliance with EPA and OSHA
All other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Requires a high school diploma or GED
Requires a valid Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Ability to read a ruler, blueprints, and repair manuals/catalogs
Ability to work with extended heights from ladders, scaffolds, mechanical lifts, etc.
Ability to work in confined spaces above and below ground
Ability to work outside in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions
Ability to establish and maintain an effective and professional relationship with peers and school district staff
Ability to perform all required tasks with strength and dexterity to include; lifting 50 pounds or greater, stooping, bending, and working in various postures and positions
