Wiring Harness Technician

American Robotics is seeking a Wiring Harness Technician to support production of advanced drone systems. This role focuses on building high‑quality wiring harnesses using small‑gauge wire (20–32 AWG), precision connectors, and soldering techniques. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent hand skills, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Responsibilities
Build wiring harnesses according to technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
Cut, strip, crimp, terminate, and assemble wires ranging from 20–32 AWG.
Perform soldering on small connectors, PCBs, and wire joints when required.
Use crimp tools, soldering irons, tweezers, heat guns, and continuity testers.
Apply labeling, heat shrink, sleeving, and cable protection materials.
Inspect completed harnesses for quality, continuity, workmanship, and compliance.
Document build steps, issues, and part usage in internal systems.
Maintain a clean and organized harness assembly workstation.
Follow ESD, safety, and electronics handling procedures.
Support prototype harness builds and rework when needed.
Qualifications – Required
Experience assembling wiring harnesses or small‑scale electro‑mechanical assemblies.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Experience working with 20–32 AWG wires and small connectors.
Proficient soldering skills.
Strong fine motor skills and attention to detail.
Ability to use hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, multimeters, and continuity testers.
Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications – Preferred
Familiarity with IPC‑620 or IPC‑610 workmanship standards.
Experience with UAV, aerospace, robotics, or electronics manufacturing.
Experience with connector families such as JST, Molex, TE, Harwin, etc.
Experience with harness validation or continuity testing processes.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a bench for extended periods.
Good hand dexterity and fine motor control.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
