The

Press Operator I

position is assigned to learn & perform printing related tasks that include Newsprint reel set‑up & operation; newsprint staging; roll preparation; plate processing; placing printing plates; basic ink setting; equipment maintenance; and other duties as assigned.

Objectives

Work as a team to achieve on‑time press performance and quality standards

Work as a team to achieve waste goals

Work as a team to make safety in our operation a top priority

Works as part of a press crew to coordinate press & plate operations during an assigned shift

Requirements

Experience in web offset printing is desirable, although mechanical/production experience of any kind may be helpful

Ability to adapt to change, prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, remain flexible, and interact with people while demonstrating patience

Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push a roll of paper

Must be able to work on feet most of the time and climb stairs on the six‑level press structure

Operators engaged in press maintenance and some cleaning activities will be required to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl

This is a full‑time position, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays

Must be reliable, report to scheduled shifts on time and ready to begin work

Color vision is required

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Related Experience

Previous machine operation or maintenance experience preferred
