What to Expect
The Joining Engineering Technician at SEMI Factory Nevada will work as a member in the SEMI Body in White organization supporting the Body in White lines. This role will focus heavily on Body Shop joining technologies and joining quality. Work will be comprised of working alongside engineering teams to better understand ways to improve/validate joining quality performance. The first fold will be to deploy problem‑solving skillsets to critically analyze complex joining problems. Second, utilize measurement devices (ultra‑sonic, calipers, etc.) on a regular basis to collect data for problem solving or fulfill control plan requirements. Third, support maintenance/controls to ensure the production line is functional during cases of downtime through knowledge from the above to make appropriate decisions.
What You'll Do
Troubleshooting in joining related issues (Resistance Spot Welding, Resistance Projection Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Drawn‑arc Welding, Laser Brazing, Dispensing Equipment, SPR, Clinching, Hemming)
Audit joining process sheets and joining process equipment
Perform ultrasound inspections on all resistance spot welds
Perform torque testing on all clinch joints and resistance projection welds
Perform destructive teardown on all joints and create report
Fulfill control plans to ensure parts are produced to desire intent
Be able to communicate effectively internally and externally through speaking and presentation as needed
What You'll Bring
Associate's degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to have flexible hours when there is a business need
Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings (including GD&T), preferred
Experience in maintenance or process department, preferred
Hands‑on experience in robotics, preferred
Experience in joining technologies (RSW, RPW, Adhesives and Clinching), preferred
Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) suite applications
